Established in 2010, the IOK Seminary is a full-time program dedicated to providing a rigorous, traditional Islamic studies education—without the need to travel abroad. Rooted in the classical tradition, our mission is to connect the timeless texts of the Islamic sciences to the realities of the modern world, making them both relevant and transformative.
Who Is It For?
With its flexible structure, the program welcomes a diverse range of students each year—including college students, working professionals, parents, homemakers, and gap year students—creating a dynamic learning environment rooted in both tradition and lived experience.
What Will First Year Cover?
Our first year is intentionally designed to ground students in a strong and comprehensive foundation across the major Islamic disciplines, while also developing a functional grasp of the Arabic language—the key to accessing the tradition in its original form. As students continue through the program, they move beyond foundations toward depth and proficiency, engaging the core sciences with increasing rigor, clarity, and confidence.
Students attend classes Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-12:00pm, and Friday from 8:00am-10:00am. After class, students have the choice to stay on campus to study or for additional Quran instruction. Throughout the year, students enjoy opportunities for Suhbah (fellowship) - joint sessions, student forums, intensives, and special annual events.
Can Students from Different States and Countries Join?
Yes, all of our classes have the option to attend live through Zoom or asynchronously through recordings.
What If I Can’t Attend Each Class Live?
All classes are recorded and shared with students. Students have access to the recordings for the rest of the academic year.
How Is This Different From IOK ACCESS (Part-Time Seminary)?
IOK Seminary is a full-time program inspired by the ʿālimiyyah curricula of traditional Islamic seminaries overseas, while also incorporating key structural and academic elements of Islamic universities. By the end of the program, students develop proficiency in the Arabic language and the major Islamic disciplines.
Do Seminary Students Receive Any Additional Resources?
Yes. Full-time seminary students are able to attend any IOK ACCESS class or Intensive free of charge. They also have ongoing access to office hours with any of our teachers for additional spiritual or academic support.
