Meet the Lead Counselor

Hira

Dr. Hira Khan

MFT Trainee/Chaplain

Dr. Hira Khan holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University and has over 15 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Clinical Pharmacist. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a certified Premarital Facilitator and Divorce Mediator. Dr. Khan is trained in the Gottman Method, PREPARE/ENRICH, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has been serving the cause of disabilities and special needs as a lead for the past six years and is completing a five-year ‘Ālimiyyah program in Turkey, integrating evidence-based therapy with Islamic principles.

Dr.marwa

Dr. Marwa Azab

Associate Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor CA

Dr. Marwa Azab has a master’s in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in neuroscience. She is the author of the textbook “An Update on Anxiety Disorders,” published by Springer Nature. She lectures at Stanford University CSP about anxiety, emotions, pain, and stress. She has trained hundreds of mental health professionals on topics such as anxiety disorders, psychopharmacology of mental health professionals, and neuroscience for therapists.  She is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies at Mishkah University—research projects include commenting on Imam Ibn Al Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah’s “The Dispraise of al-hawaa—lowly desires”. 
Elwan

Dr. Hassan Elwan

Psychospiritual Counselor (AMFT #133334)

Dr. Hassan Elwan holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University and a Master's degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. He regularly lectures about Islam and spirituality in Southern California and provides professional counseling services to the community that is grounded in both psychology and spirituality. Dr. Elwan has more than 10 years experience in counseling from both a spiritual and clinical psychology perspective. He is certified in many psychotherapy approaches including Gottman and EFT couple therapy.
Furhan

Shaykh Furhan Zubairi

Dean of Seminary

Shaykh Furhan Zubairi is Dean of the Seminary and Extension Programs at the Institute of Knowledge in Diamond Bar, California, and regularly delivers sermons and lectures throughout Southern California. He is a hafidh of the Qur’an and a traditionally trained scholar, holding an ‘Alamiyyah degree from Jami’ah Dar Al-’Ulum in Karachi with numerous ijazat in the six canonical books of hadith, including the Muwatta’ of Imam Malik and Imam Muhammad. He also holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and is certified in Islamic Finance.
