Yafa Aweinat completed the memorization of the Quran in 2009 and since then has continued her study of the science of tajweed and the various recitations of the Quran, receiving Ijaazah in the recitations of Hafs ‘an Aasim, Shu’bah ‘an Aasim, and Warsh ‘an Naafi’. In 2011, she graduated from the Bayyinah Dream program which focused on learning Quranic Arabic. Yafa also completed her Bachelors Degree in Ethnic and Women’s Studies from Cal Poly Pomona. She is currently a student at Mishkah University and is continuing her studies with local scholars and online with scholars abroad.
Yafa is passionate about sharing the message of Islam and is a longtime volunteer with WhyIslam. She has been involved in New Muslim care and support locally and virtually through New Muslim Academy (NMA). She is active in connecting with young Muslims through various platforms.
She currently teaches Quran at the Islamic Institute of Orange County and the Islamic Center of Claremont. She is an instructor at IOK Seminary and an IOK Associate Chaplain serving UCR and UCI.
